  • ■About Xiamen:

         Xiamen is a well-known tourist port city in the Southeast coast of China. It is one of the cleanest cities of China, the Garden Cities of China, the National Environmental Preotection Model Cities, and the best sightseeing cities in China. Not only being wealthy with travel resources, Xiamen has also temperate weather, fast and convenient transport and communication and complete travel establishements.

 

● Gulangyu 鼓浪屿

      Gulangyu is an island separated from Xiamen City. It's like a garden on the water. The shade of the trees covers nearly the whole island. Cars, buses, bikes are not allowed to drvie there. Everyone should walk. This makes the place very quiet so that music played by the violin or the piano can be heard here and there. It is the famous "Home of Music". The Sunshine Rock is the highest place on the island, so it has become the symbol of Gulangyu. Standing at eh top of the Sunshine Rock, one can see the landscape of the whole Xiamen ands other small islands. The sky and the sea meet on the horizon. It's said that people can see clearly the Jinmen Island through telescope. 

 

● The Ring Road 环岛路

With the breadth of 60 meters, and two-way 6 driveways, the Ring Road is the 1st level city sub-artery. The motorway of the road has the breadth of 18-24 meters, cycle way 6-8 meters and that of greening belt is 80-100 meters. It starts from Yanwu and ends in Dunshang.
This road was built by government in 1991, the whole construction took about 10 years. By the end of 1999, the Ring Road has been well equipped with various facilities, from the Hulishan Fortress to the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. From here, you can see the view of Xiamen Bay, and the theme sculptures exhibited along the road.

 

 

● Zhongshan Road 中山路

Zhongshan Road, a commercial pedestrian street, is the symbol as well as the business card of Xiamen. Strolling in Zhongshan Road, you can feel the vitality and the vigor exploded by romance of young nearby and competitions of shops around. Zhong Shan Road is teeming with shops and street vendors as a leisure, entertainment and food center in Xiamen. Most buildings along the road are a combination of Victoria-era and Chinese traditional architectures in exotic flavor. 

 

● South Putuo Temple 南普陀寺

The temple was first built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). And rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it is now an imposing multilayered trapezoidal structure that overlooks the sea. The Shrine of Buddhist Scriptures houses a huge collection of Buddhist cultural relics, including a Burmese jade carving of the Buddha and much important Buddhist literature. It is one of the sacred places of Buddhism in Southern Fujian.
The temple is located on the southwest of Xiamen Island. It is surrounded by the graceful sea and the Wulao Peaks behind the temple. South Putuo Temple has many deep caves and verdant woods.
